Jeffrey V. Houston, CPA is a founding shareholder of GBH CPAs, PC and brings over 20 years of experience from both the public and private accounting sectors.  With his combined experience, Jeff is able to apply his audit and SEC knowledge to the real-life business requirements of his clients.

Jeff’s specialized background is focused in the oil, gas, manufacturing, and real estate industries where he has acted in senior executive roles to help the companies he has served expand through capital funding, strategic alliances, and merger and acquisitions.  He has evaluated business development and acquisition proposals for new ventures and created plans for business refinancing and restructuring, including plans for alternative investment sources.

A component of Jeff’s commitment to growing organizations is identifying new processes that help reduce operating costs, such as implementing cost management processes, purchasing and contract administration processes, and financial and operational procedures.

Jeff was selected to join the Texas Society of CPAs’ Professional Standards Committee effective June 1, 2008. The primary objective of the committee is to respond to exposure drafts of the FASB, SEC, AICPA, GASB, PCAOB and any other accounting and auditing standard-setting body that has an impact on the practice of accountancy in Texas. The Professional Standards Committee is responsible for all phases of the response process including identifying exposure drafts that warrant a response, assigning responsibility for reviewing exposure drafts, developing draft responses and approving the final letters to standard-setting bodies.

Jeff’s audit experience began at Arthur Andersen & Co. where he acted as a manager serving numerous industries, including development-stage enterprises, regulated and unregulated energy companies, individually-owned entrepreneurial enterprises, and marketing companies.  Jeff has been an audit partner since February 2006.  In addition, he has developed SEC reporting experience with Fortune 100 companies, including conducting annual and quarterly reporting, Initial Public Offerings, and responses to SEC inquiries.  Jeff now capitalizes on that knowledge and expertise to serve his clients at GBH.

Jeff graduated from Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas, and is actively involved in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
